Ramada Inn Resurface Macon, GA – Jan 23, 2020

January 31, 2020 //  by Spalding Concrete Company

Specifications:

  • Clean debris off of existing concrete
  • Ensure overlay areas are dry
  • Apply hot-tar bonding agent to resurface areas
  • Apply hot-mix asphalt to resurface areas

Description:

  1. Remove any dirt and debris from existing concrete areas being resurfaced
  2. Dry all areas to prepare for tar application
  3. Apply hot-tar bonding agent to existing concrete areas in preparation for hot-mix overlay
  4. Apply hot-mix asphalt to all areas being resurfaced
  5. Compact asphalt with asphalt rollers and plate tamp to ensure a fully compacted and smooth finish

Challenges:

This particular project, although small in comparison to others we have completed, posed many unique challenges of its own. The biggest challenges we faced on this resurface all involved the application of hot-mix asphalt to some very tight areas. Our team perservered by use of wheelbarrows, shovels, and plenty of know-how to ensure all had the correct application of the hot-mix asphalt. We also ensure compaction to these areas by use of smooth surface tamp shoes and a plate-tamp compactor. Another challenge faced by our team was the shape of the existing lot. This lot was laid out in a circle. Our expert team of operators were able to maneuver our equipment around the circular structure and ensure all edges were filled in with the asphalt and properly compacted to a smooth even finish.
